The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster is really three devices in one box. First, theres the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G, Wireless-B, and other performance-enhanced SpeedBooster devices to the network. Theres also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster incorporates the next generation of Wireless-G (802.11g) networking. SpeedBooster technology is a compatible add-on to standard Wireless-G, which increases real-world wireless network performance by up to 35. Unlike other speed-enhancing technologies, SpeedBooster is fully 802.11 compliant, and a good neighbor to other wireless devices and technologies, using a single 2.4GHz channel as specified by the official wireless standard. And, unlike other technologies, with SpeedBooster youll see an overall speed improvement even when running a mixed network of SpeedBooster and regular Wireless-G devices.

 "Finally Full Bars!" 2009-10-27
By Crystal S. (San Diego, CA)
After half a year of getting 2/5 signal bars from my old wireless router (even being in the same room!) I purchased this one. It was very easy to install (didn't even need the CD) and my laptop immediately picked up the signal. So happy to have a secure wireless network with full bars! At last!

 "Avoid this product!!!!" 2009-10-05
By Bruno C. Milanello (MA, USA)
Avoid this product!!!

I had a terrible experience with this product:

-I bought it from Amazon.com, installed and after 2 days of usage, the product was dead. Frozen, not working at all and even without the power cord, the product was blinking.

-I contacted the customer service and they treat you like someone withou brain, asking you very basic questions and following a protocol that will not address your issue in less than an hour of questions

-Everytime I had to contact them I have to went through all the questions again.

-I have to pay $30 dollars to receive a new router next day, otherwise they will not going to charge you, but you will receive the product within 14days (which was not an option for me)

-The new router wroks fine for exactly two days and then I have to reset the product. I tried everything and they do not know the problem. They said that they already changed my router and they will not change it again.

-Bottom line: they not care about the customer, they not have a good product, and it is very expensive.

 "Do Not Purchase" 2009-08-26
By Leslie (Philadelphia)
I made the mistake of purchasing this product just over a year ago. It sits safely on my desk, out of harms way. Last night, the router mysteriously stopped working. Thinking it was me, I followed the "help" directions and got nowhere. My next step was Linksys customer service. The first representative suggested that I purchase another router, and made suggestions. Purchase another router?! After 9 representatives, supervisors, and managers, I was told that the product is only guaranteed to last about 10 mths. which essentially means buying a wireless router once per year. There is no standing behind their product, it's 10 mths. and done. NO THANK YOU.

Linksys T-mobile Hotspot Home Wireless Router WRT54G-TM

Buy Low Price From Here Now

The Linksys Wireless-G broadband router is really three devices in one box. First, it's a wireless access point, which lets you connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network. There's also a built-in four-port full-duplex 10/100 switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices. Connect four PCs directly, or daisy-chain out to more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G broadband router can encrypt all wireless transmissions, and it supports the industrial-strength wireless security of 802.1x authentication and authorization. The router can serve as a DHCP server, has NAT technology to protect against Internet intruders, supports VPN pass-through, and can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet. Configuration is a snap with the Web browser-based configuration utility.

With the Linksys Wireless-G broadband router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multiplayer games with the flexibility, speed, and security you need!

Wireless-G is the 54 Mbps wireless networking standard that's more than four times faster than the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country. But since they share the same 2.4 GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also interoperate with existing 11 Mbps Wireless-B equipment.

Because both standards are built-in, you can protect your investment in existing 802.11b infrastructure, and migrate to the new screaming-fast Wireless-G standard as your needs grow.

"Best kept secret for DD-Wrt hackers!" 2009-10-12
By Timothy R. Lindley (Jackson, MI USA)
This product is the must have now that it is supported by DD-Wrt.

The atrocious T-Mobile firmware is so HUGE and requres so much RAM that Linksys specially made these units with 32Megs of nvram and 8 megs of RAM. 200 meg proc. this is like getting a wrt54gs but with twice the memory and 4 times the storage. you can load full distributions of dd-wrt and even probably store some logs on these.

It is a wrt router so theres no suprises there. if you are looking for a dd-wrt capable router this is the one to get.

No t-mobles folly is a dd-wrt hackers fortune. picked mine up for less than i would have a wrt54gs. and i love it. my GS was crashing weekly with an old version of dd-wrt on it and i think the tcip connections were filling up the ram. now i dont have that problem.

 "Rock Solid 300 mbps N Adapter" 2009-11-09
By Toolman
Not sure why some reviewers had problems with this device, but for me, setup was a breeze and I'm seeing consistent 300 mbps speeds. The lowest speed I've seen is 270 mbps. One suggestion...make sure you use the included USB cable and stand to extend the device so it is on top of or beside your computer, instead of pluging it directly into the USB port. This should provide greater signal strength. Also, in terms of range, I have it a floor below the router, so it definitely is able to handle some distance with objects in between, and I'm still getting 5 full bars of signal strength. There is a big difference between wireless G and N; N is blazingly fast and makes browsing and other internet activities much more fun.

I highly recommend this product.

"signal LESS strong than built in wireless" 2009-10-17
By Thomas Pope
Can't believe it to be possible, but this unit works less well than the wireless connection built into a 3 year old Acer laptop. Signal strength with the built-in is "fair" most of the time, occasionally "good". I was trying to improve on that and never got beyond "poor" with this so called range booster.

"My first USB wireless device" 2009-10-12
By Noah
I just got a new desktop computer with Windows 7 Ultimate installed, and I was having a terrible time getting my old wg311v3 PCI wireless card to work (prompting this purchase). Windows 7 did not support the drivers for a few of my other devices, but I was able to just plug this USB adapter in, and 10 seconds later the device had self-installed and was working perfectly. I am using this on my older G series router, but plan on upgrading to an N network at some point in the future, so I appreciate the future compatibility that this product offers in terms of the network and the ability to run on Windows 7. Using the included cradle I can put the receiver up on my desk and get a signal strength and transfer speeds that are pretty much identical to my previous computer's wireless PCI card with a large external antenna.

"Decent range for USB and Wireless N, sturdy construction, works with Windows 7 64 bit" 2009-09-27
By Make IT happen
I like USB portability and compatibility, but as far as wireless goes, I have seen some issues with many products in the past. I wasn't sure what to expect from this but needed a portable N card for my network and am pleasantly surprised, but was still hoping that USB/N wireless technology had come a little further.

SPEED: Good. Delivers consistent 216-270Mbps even at the furthest point from the router I can find in my house.(using Dlink DIR 655 router in N only mode).

RELIABILITY/RANGE: Good, but had hoped for better. No drops so far, but the range is less than my other wireless cards, and most notably, my cheap Belkin USB adapter. This is to be expected from any wireless N product though, and given the consistently awesome speed and absence of dropped signalls, I wouldn't even notice if I wasn't monitoring the range counters during testing and comparisons to my other devices.

DURABILITY: Constructed well. Made of plastics like most of the new products, but very solid construction. Really impressive is the extension cradle which has about a 4' extension cable and could literally be used as a paper weight in a hurricane. My Belkin by comparison seems like it would blow across the room with a sneeze. Heat is always a concern with many new products, but not with this. It maintains a steady operating temperature and has small vents to release internal heat.

COMPATIBILITY: Of note, I have read many reviews of products causing blue screens and crashes, especially for VISTA 64 bit computers. I am using this on Windows 7 64 bit and have no issues except that the Wireless Connection Manager software doesn't run, which is probably a blessing as most 3rd party wireless managment software causes more issues than good and I always revert back to the Windows wireless management anyway. I am not a MAC user, but it came with MAC utilities for what that is worth and I don't believe I came across any bad reviews from MAC users prior to buying, but I wan't paying attention for that either.

Overall a very good product. As with any wireless N product, it carried a higher price tag than the Wireless G products and the range/signal does not live up to all the N hype, but it delivers the N speed I wanted with no issues. This is the mid-level Dlink USB wireless N card at the time of this writing, and maybe the high level offers more range at a higher price tag, but I don't need it. There are some less expensive N cards out there, but read the reviews before you buy, especially if you run MAC, 64 bit, Vista, or plan to use Windows 7 when it comes out as some of the "off brand" and even some familiar branded products are causing some crashes and other issues. For me, this one did not.

"Don't be fooled by the "N" in this "RangeBooster"!!!" 2009-09-05
By Alan (Los Angeles, CA)
This product is advertised as an "N" Adapter which provides "superb wireless performance." The fact is that this "N" Adapter, as I discovered upon receiving it and reading the back of the box, falls in between a G adapter and a 'true' N adapter (D-Link's 'true' "N" Adapter is shown to be the "Xtreme N"), and states that the RangeBooster is not capable of providing a sustained wireless connection. If D-Link had listed that important detail in their Amazon.com description I never would have purchased it! I have a D-Link Router, so I bought this D-Link (supposed) "N" Adapter for my roommates' computer (located in her bedroom not more than 30 feet from my D-Link Router). She installed it, and the highest connection she was able to receive was just under 2 out of 4 bars at 43% connectivity!!! I'm returning this for a full refund. How this adapter got high ratings from anyone is a mystery to me.

The router worked as promoted, but I purchased it to host a internet camera at a remote site. At&t does not allow hosting on their broadband cards, so the service provider was the problem. Its in their contract. Check your service provider details for their cards before purchasing. Amazon was GREAT, they allowed me to return the product. I will use Amazon for all my purchased for now on.

"Makes your wireless card a full modem" 2007-10-28
    By T. Ceglarek
I use this router with a pcmciaa Sierra aircard on the Cingular/ATT network. I'm very pleased it extended the capabilities of the card from simply allowing access from my lap top to using it as my overall internet connection at home. Speed is sufficient to play Final Fantasy on the Xbox and even hook up the Vonage router to make phone calls. It's certainly not as fast as my old wired dsl connection but that is not the router's fault just the fact of the cingular/att wireless network. For me this router saves me 50 bucks a month by allowing me to drop my wired connection. I grab my aircard when I leave for work in the morning and then after work and weekends just leave it in the DLink router for around the house always on internet connection. Great router I bet it would be a big seller if more people knew about it.

     "disappointed by d-link" 2006-11-04
By K. Yao (Houston, Texas United States)
The card is good but the router is of bad quality. In daily use I have to restart the router irregularly to make it work.

Moreover, the rebate didn't go through and I had to resubmit the same supporting documents to request rebate check.

"Good but not the best" 2006-02-26
By Indrajeet Gambhir (Des Plaines, IL USA)
I am not a networking pro, but just wanted to use Wireless as I got my office laptop in addition to my personal laptop at home, as I needed an IP splitter anyway. This device, being a combo and at a decent price immeidately caught my attention and I bought it inspite of my friedns' warnings against D-link.

The setup of the base unit was easy but as soon as I installed the card, I figured that something went wrong. After a 2 hours discussion with cust-support, I was told that I would have to use Static IP addresses on both PCs to connect to internet, as the DNS server of the Base unit had some issues. That is fine as long as my both pcs are used at home, but I have to change my network setting everytime (to autodetect an IP address) whenever I have to take my PC out or if someone bring another device to my home. I happened to change my service provider and discovered that the TCP/IP setting of my main PC had corrupted and needed reinstallation.

Other than that, its been working fine since last 2-3 months. Not a single dropped connection. It works at a consistent high speed. I would say its a good value for money if, unlike me, you know how to use it.

"Good operation for the price!" 2006-02-22
By Agustin A. Henriquez (Miami, FL)
Pros: Installation was easy, no jamming, always recovers itself after energy blackouts. Cons: Poor signal across concrete homes. In such conditions you may need to get a repeter.

"Not for Win 98 users!!!" 2005-06-10
    By Hibiscus Queen (Florida)
I've had a HORRIBLE experience with the wireless card in this networking kit--all because my laptop runs on Win 98 SE! Although it claims to work with Windows 98 SE, the software has a flaw that can't find a .dll file to make the card work. I've spent hours trying to come up with a fix and I finally contacted DLink for tech help. (...) Before buying this product, read all about the problem this product has with Win 98 and decide if you really want the headache. I solved my problem by purchasing another card that said it worked with Win 98 and actually did. I had it running at a Dell store in minutes. Disregard what the box says. Only use if you run Win 2000 or higher! It seems to work really well with XP.
