Router worked fine for about 5 months and then overheated and quit. We ordered a Cisco Linksys replacement and installed it. According to the D-Link warranty info, I needed to have a Case ID number from an online tech who would first walk me through troubleshooting procedures. We needed an immediate router solution. I never did get around to uninstalling the new router so I could reinstall the non-functioning D-Link and call the D-Link tech support to get the required Case ID number. I'm not a computer novice so I'm sure the problem was with the D-Link router malfunctioning, particularly since nothing in the environment had changed and the new Linksys router resolved the problem. Plus, I would have had to pay for shipping the D-Link back to the manufacturer. Just wasn't worth the time, cost and hassle. The D-Link EBR 2310 was a disappointment. We chose it to replace an older technology D-Link that had served us well for several years.

The router is easy to set up and works fine, as advertised.
I use it as a router only, not as part of a Lan Network.

I bought this D-Link EBR-2310 router on Amazon, and spent several days trying to get it to work properly. I was determined to make it work, and spent about 12 hours total messing with it, re-starting the modem, re-starting computers, installing and re-installing drivers and software, calling D-Link tech support, etc.
We got the router to 'work' in that we had Internet connectivity on all three computers several times during this process. But every single time... as soon as all three of us starting browsing the web, it would slow Internet usage to a crawl, start showing page errors and kicking different ones of OFF the Internet.
After I'd spent about 10 hours total (over several days) messing with this, during one of my calls to D-Link tech support, I asked the guy if they got a lot of calls like this about this router. HER SAID YES AND ACTUALLY TOLD ME THIS ROUTER WILL ONLY RUN 1-2 COMPUTERS ONLINE!!! He said the other ports should be used for cameras or printers, etc., and that if I wanted to run three computers online, I'd need the D-Link DIR-655.
After ordering this thing in good faith - believing the product description which said it could handle up to four computers online - I was livid! I'd wasted hours of my life and lost productivity for 2 workers, all because of D-LINK'S FALSE ADVERTISING!
I called D-LINK customer service (after calling tech support) and they essentially accused me of lying about what their tech guy told me. I became more livid. Then they set me up on a phone call with one of their so-called engineers. He said their tech guy was wrong as well - that is, the guy who gets all the calls about how this piece of bleep works in the real world didn't know what he was talking about. Right.
D-Link offered to exchange it, but I'd already read others online who reported that even after an exchange, the replacement piece of bleep worked just as bad. In light of their BLATANT FALSE ADVERTISING which led me to waste 12 hours of my life and lose income from two workers' lost productivity, I demanded they send me the DIR-655 as a replacement, and was stone-walled.
Two days later, I went to Radio Shack and bought the Linksys Wireless-N Router (WRT160N-RM ), which I hadn't realized ALSO HAS 4 WIRED PORTS IN THE BACK, which is exactly why I bought the other piece of bleep in the first place. (I wanted wired, as opposed to wireless.) I hooked up Lynksys N Router to the same three computers, using the same cords, modem, etc., installed the software on the main computer, and then tested the netowrk. We had all three computers browsing online, and the router performed flawlessly, as it has ever since.
D-LINK NEEDS TO STOP LYING ABOUT THIS PRODUCT. IT DOES NOT WORK WITH THREE COMPUTERS ONLINE. AND THEY NEED SERIOUS HELP IN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. ACCUSING CUSTOMERS OF LYING ABOUT WHAT THEIR OWN TECH GUY SAID, DENYING THE REALITY ABOUT THE PIECE OF BLEEP THEY'RE SELLING, AND TREATING THE CUSTOMER LIKE THE WHOLE PROBLEM IS THEIR FAULT IS WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! I DESPISE THIS COMPANY.

Set-up was a breeze. The web-based UI was pretty clean and easy to understand. I had mine configured and running in minutes. But an old telephone switchboard operator moving cables around could outperform this brick. Web sites wouldn't load. The network would flap. And the router had to be constantly reset. Changing settings (like auto port speed detection and QoS) made no difference. Upon further investigation, it seems it's a design issue and not one of quality control. It's just not a capable piece of hardware. After many hours of research and mucking with it, I pulled it off and reinstalled my PIX 501.

Works like a charm on macs. Just hook it up, turn your computer on and it works. Don't use the online set up.
